Black History Month Closing Gala & Kora Night is an elegant evening of music, culture, and legacy, marking the official closing of the Strings of Legacy & Rhythms of Ancestry Tour and the culmination of Black History Month.
This exclusive gala brings together internationally acclaimed artists, cultural bearers, and community leaders for a refined celebration of heritage and artistic excellence. Kora masters Senny Camara (Senegal / France) and Zal Sissokho (Senegal / Canada) share a rare musical dialogue on the 21-string West African kora, weaving ancestral memory with contemporary expression.
The program also features Nda Chi with Rhythms of Ancestors, alongside Roots of Resistance, an evocative dance and storytelling work led by Maria Carolina Estupiñán (Alma Raíz) with cultural bearer Edilberto Mina Valencia. Inspired by Afro-descendant traditions from Colombia’s Pacific Coast and the Caribbean, the performance honours resilience, identity, and the enduring spirit of marginalized communities.
